Minister within the Ministry of Public Works Madanlall Ramraj has expressed satisfaction with the pace of the Corentyne road expansion project, with Lot Two reportedly ahead of schedule.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the ministry said that the project has been divided into three major sections and that significant progress has been made.
Major drainage works have been completed along both sides of the roadway, clearing the way for the next phase of construction. China Road and Bridge Corporation is now laying the crusher-run base for the main road.
The ministry said that work has continued despite prolonged adverse weather and maintained that this has not affected the quality of construction.
It described the expansion as one of the government’s flagship infrastructure projects, intended to modernise the country’s road network.
Ramraj said that regular inspections would continue to ensure that the required standards are maintained.
