Three persons are in police custody as investigations continue into an incident at a wash bay along the Railway Line, Kitty, Georgetown, early Tuesday morning.

Police said the incident occurred at about 2:05 a.m. on September 8, 2026, after an unknown caller reported loud and continuous music being played from a motor car at the wash bay.

The report was relayed to the Police Operations Room, and a patrol was dispatched to the location.

Upon arrival, ranks attempted to address the reported disturbance. Police said officers informed several persons at the location, including Spanish-speaking nationals, that they were under arrest for causing a disturbance.

According to police, the individuals did not comply and allegedly pushed back against the ranks, resulting in police also pushing back. A scuffle nearly ensued, while other officers at the scene intervened and attempted to separate those involved.

An additional police patrol was subsequently summoned to assist.

Three persons were apprehended and remain in custody, while efforts are being made to locate others in connection with the incident.

The Guyana Police Force has also acknowledged video footage circulating on social media showing part of the interaction between police ranks and several persons at the location.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the entire incident are being investigated, and investigations remain ongoing.
