Todd meets Russian Foreign Minister

On Friday, 25 September 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Guyana, Hugh Todd met with Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

A release from the Ministry said that both ministers exchanged views on Guyana-Russia relations “within the context of the contemporary global political economy”. The ministers also discussed multilateralism and the UN in the 21st century, including the role and mandate of the next UN Secretary General.

The release said that Todd was accompanied by Dr. Frank Anthony, Minister of Health, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, Permanent Representative of Guyana to the United Nations, and Neishanta Benn, Minister Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Guyana to the United Nations.
