Banks DIH Limited has been announced as a major sponsor of the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League 2026, which will be played from July 23 to August 1 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
The announcement was made this morning at the Banks DIH, Thirst Park, Headquarters during a press briefing.
The third edition of the T20 tournament will feature five franchise teams competing for a US$1 million prize pool, with defending champions Guyana Amazon Warriors set to play before a home crowd.
As part of the sponsorship, Banks DIH will activate its XM Rum brand during the tournament. The company said the partnership is a fitting one, noting that XM Rum is locally produced, internationally recognised and strongly connected to Guyanese culture.
“Cricket and Banks DIH have something in common, we are both woven into the fabric of Guyanese life. For over 70 years, Banks DIH has been part of the celebrations, the gatherings, and the proud moments that define who we are as a people,” Banks DIH Limited Communications Executive Sonya Forrester said.
“The Global Super League is a natural home for our XM Rum brand, and we are proud to stand alongside an event that carries Guyana’s name and spirit onto the world stage,” she added.
Chairman of the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League, Sir Clive Lloyd, welcomed the support from Banks DIH, stating that corporate backing remains important to the growth of the tournament.
“As the Global Super League continues to grow in stature, it is immensely encouraging to see corporate Guyana remain steadfast in its support of the tournament,” Lloyd said.
He added that one of the main aims of the league is to showcase Guyana’s culture, vibrancy and potential as the country continues to build its presence on the global stage.
“We are delighted to welcome XM Rum, one of Guyana’s most respected and iconic brands, to the GSL family. Their partnership reflects a shared commitment to excellence and national pride,” Lloyd said.
The 2026 tournament will bring together the Guyana Amazon Warriors of the Caribbean Premier League, Lahore Qalandars of the Pakistan Super League, Desert Vipers of the International League T20, Perth Scorchers XI of the Big Bash League, and San Francisco Unicorns of Major League Cricket.
The San Francisco Unicorns will be the first Major League Cricket side to compete in the tournament.
Now in its third edition, the GSL is being positioned as more than just a cricket tournament. Organisers have also highlighted its role in promoting Guyana as a destination for sport, tourism and business.
Banks DIH said its sponsorship reflects the company’s longstanding commitment to investing in communities, culture and experiences that matter to Guyanese people.
