Guyanese all-rounder Keemo Paul has been called up to the West Indies Test squad ahead of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
Paul, who has not played Test cricket since 2019, is expected to link up with the squad before today’s training session as West Indies continue preparations for the match, which bowls off on Friday.
The Essequibian’s return places another Guyanese player in the regional setup and comes after a steady showing in the West Indies Regional Four-Day Championship earlier this year.
Paul scored two half-centuries and claimed 13 wickets in four matches during the tournament, performances that helped underline his value as a bowling all-rounder.
His last Test appearance came against England at Gros Islet from February 9 to 12, 2019. Since then, injuries have limited his chances to play regular cricket and push for a sustained run in the longest format.
However, his improved fitness and recent form at the regional level have opened the door for another opportunity with the West Indies squad.
The second Test will be played in Antigua, where the West Indies will complete final preparations this week before facing Sri Lanka from Friday.
