Rosignol, Bush Lot headline Beharry U19 T20 action in Berbice

Aarav Sukhram was named man of the match after also scoring 11 runs as Essequibo Islands completed a comfortable chase and finished at the top of the zone.

Rosignol Secondary and Bush Lot Secondary will open an important day of Zone 7 action when the 2026 Beharry Schools’ Under-19 T20 Cricket Tournament continues at the Cotton Tree Ground today.

The two schools will meet from 9:00 a.m. as the competition moves closer to its crucial stages, with both teams seeking to strengthen their chances of advancing from the zone.

Woodley Park Secondary and No. 8 Secondary will face each other in the second match of the double-header from 1:30 p.m.

The Zone 7 fixtures will bring the tournament to Berbice following last weekend’s action at the Uitvlugt Ground, where the champions of Zones 2 and 3 were decided.

Essequibo Islands Secondary claimed the Zone 2 title after defeating West Demerara Secondary School by nine wickets.

Bhomesh Lall and Aarav Sukhram led the victory with dominant bowling performances. Lall, a national youth all-rounder, collected four wickets for five runs, while Sukhram returned remarkable figures of five for one.

Sukhram was named man of the match after also scoring 11 runs as Essequibo Islands completed a comfortable chase and finished at the top of the zone.

Covent Garden Secondary was crowned the Zone 3 champion after recording a 24-run win over Yarrowkabra Secondary School in the final.

All-rounder Navindranauth Ram was named the final’s Most Valuable Player after scoring 25 runs and taking two wickets for 18 runs. His performance helped Covent Garden complete a convincing victory and secure the zonal championship.

Today’s double-header will now provide the Zone 7 schools with an opportunity to move closer to earning their place in the next stage of the tournament.
