Young Warriors Cricket Club successfully chased 250 to defeat Cotton Tree Cricket Club by six wickets, while Rose Hall Canje demolished the Berbice River Association by 367 runs in the BCB/KSM First Division Super50 Tournament.
Playing at the Young Warriors Ground on September 19, the home side won the toss and asked Cotton Tree to bat first. Cotton Tree posted 249 all out from their 50 overs, led by Nick Ramsaroop’s 69 and Damion Vivikanand’s 42.
Trevon Stanislaus and Devendra Ramotar took three wickets each for Young Warriors. Stanislaus finished with 3-34 from 10 overs, while Ramotar claimed 3-36 from six.
Suresh Dhanai delivered an economical spell of 1-29 from 10 overs, while Martin Singh collected 1-51 from his full allocation.
Young Warriors responded strongly and reached 250-4 in 39.3 overs. Ricardo Ramdeholl anchored the chase with an unbeaten 78, receiving valuable support from Stanislaus, who scored 59, and Singh, who added 53.
Rose Hall Canje batter Berbice River Association
In another second-round match, Sanjay Algoo dominated with bat and ball as Rose Hall Canje secured their second victory of the tournament by crushing Berbice River Association.
Algoo blasted 90 from 63 balls, including six fours and seven sixes, to help Rose Hall Canje reach 381 all out in 50 overs. Altav Balman struck seven fours and six sixes in his 86 from 71 balls, while Rajindra Beharry made 59 from 44 deliveries with six fours and three sixes.
Romario Ramdeholl also contributed 42 from 45 balls. J. Leacock took 3-64 and G. Crandon claimed 3-65 for Berbice River Association.
Algoo then ripped through the opposition’s batting order, taking 6-8 as Berbice River Association were dismissed for 14 in only 7.3 overs. Adrian Hetmyer grabbed 3-6, while P. Fredericks finished unbeaten on one.
Rose Hall Canje’s enormous 367-run victory underlined their strong start to the tournament.
