Final eight set for GFF Blue Water Shipping Girls U15 Championship

Defending champions Annai Secondary will enter the national stage as the team to beat after winning the 2025 title.

Wauna Primary, Waramuri Secondary, Mahdia Secondary, President’s College, The New Central High, Bartica Secondary, Marian Academy and defending champions Annai Secondary will contest the Final Eight of the GFF Blue Water Shipping Girls U15 National Championship.

The eight schools earned their places after weeks of regional qualifying matches across the country, with the national playoffs set for the National Training Centre, Providence, East Bank Demerara. The Guyana Football Federation said the Final Eight brings together regional champions and top-performing schools from the preliminary stage.

The quarter-finals are scheduled for Saturday, July 4, from 1:00 pm, while the semi-finals and final are listed for Sunday, July 5, from 1:00 pm at the same venue.

Annai Secondary will enter the national stage as the team to beat after winning the 2025 title. The Region Nine school defeated Marian Academy on penalties in last year’s final at the NTC, with Marian finishing as runner-up. President’s College placed third, while Waramuri Secondary ended fourth.

This year’s competition forms part of the GFF’s continued drive to expand girls’ football through schools. The 2026 edition was launched in May as the third staging of the championship and was expected to feature more than 70 schools from several parts of the country, including Moruca, Essequibo, West Demerara, Georgetown, East Coast Demerara, East Bank Demerara, West Berbice, East Berbice, Bartica, Mahdia, Rupununi and Linden.

The GFF has said the tournament is aimed at giving young female players a structured platform to compete while promoting confidence, discipline, teamwork and overall development through football.

With Annai, Marian Academy, President’s College and Waramuri all returning to the national stage after strong finishes last year, this weekend’s Final Eight is expected to produce another competitive finish to the schools’ championship.
