A fire last evening destroyed the Trendz Setter Boutique, Lot 84 Robb Street, Georgetown.
A release from the Guyana Fire Service (GFS) last night said that
Water Tenders #130 and #131, Water Carriers #20, #26 and #30, Ambulance #25, and their respective crews from Headquarters, Campbellville and Eccles Fire Stations were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered the building fully engulfed in flames. Through swift and coordinated firefighting efforts, the blaze was brought under control and extinguished, the GFS stated.
Minister of Home Affairs, Oneidge Walrond was at the scene during the firefighting operations, the GFS said.
Firefighters are currently conducting mop-up operations to extinguish any remaining hotspots and prevent possible rekindling.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
Residents say that the fire tenders took more than 20 minutes to arrive at the scene as the flames spread through the building.
