A new Government Service Centre was yesterday launched in Lethem, Region Nine, aimed at bringing essential public services closer to residents of the area.
The launch was held at the Lethem Business Incubator Centre and was attended by Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony; Minister within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Pauline Sukhai; and Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, Zulfikar Ally.
A release from the Ministry of Health said that Anthony highlighted the significance of the initiative, noting that the establishment of the Service Centre represents an important step forward for Region Nine and will make government services more accessible to residents.
“Previously, where you had to go to Georgetown to access these services, those services are now coming to you. Under this same roof, you can work on your birth certificate, marriage certificate and your GRA documents,” Anthony said.
He stated that the Centre will provide a cluster of government services in one convenient location, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances, particularly to Georgetown, to conduct essential transactions.
