Yonelle De Abreu claimed the women’s title as competitors tested their skills across four demanding stages at the Guyana National Rifle Association’s Super September Shoot on September 6 at the Timehri Rifle Ranges.
De Abreu topped the two-person women’s category, while Lavendra Luckiram and Rajiv Latchana secured the Production and Standard division titles respectively.
Sponsored by Aquafina Water and Ice Inc., the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Level I event was the association’s third small-bore competition of 2026.
Hot, sandy conditions added to the challenge as shooters navigated timed stages requiring composure, accuracy and strict attention to safety procedures. The association praised both competitors and match officials for their professional approach and safe conduct throughout the event.
The Production Division attracted the larger field, with nine shooters competing for honours. Luckiram finished first, followed by Gordon Richards in second and Jemaine Klass in third.
Five competitors contested the Standard Division, where Latchana took the top spot ahead of Daniel Sugrim and Jonathon Ferreira, who finished second and third respectively.
The divisions offered different equipment options. Production focused on relatively standard factory firearms and comparable equipment conditions, while Standard allowed competitors greater freedom to customise their firearms and equipment.
Results were processed using the PractiScore 2 application and presented by small-bore captain Gordon Richards. Basmatee Mohabeer serves as the section’s vice-captain.
